Part Time Summer Positions

The Aquatic Park is currently hiring life guards, lesson instructors, and concession clerks who want to work, are outgoing, and energetic. Part time job application can be submitted at any Park District office or emailed directly to cmurray@oswegolandpd.org. Call 630.554.4467 with questions.

 

Life Guards

  • Significant involvement in the enforcement of all pool rules and policies of the Oswegoland Park District, fairly and consistently.
  • Significant involvement in performing/training 1st Aid, CPR and AED.
    Significant involvement in providing excellent customer service.
  • Considerable involvement in performing opening and closing duties correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Considerable involvement in keeping the pool, locker rooms and facility clean.
  • Some involvement in aquatic special events and swim team events.
  • Other duties as assigned by pool manager or aquatic supervisor.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be 16 years of age with strong swimming skills.
  • Acquire a current Ellis and Associates Lifeguarding License (Will obtain through park district training)
    Ability to work with the public and other staff in a professional manner.
  • Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the park district.
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility in available working hours.
  • Attend mandatory in-service training every Wednesday from 8 pm to 9 pm.

 

Lesson Instructor * Jeff Ellis Swim Program

  • Significant involvement in swimming instruction and record keeping for those classes.
  • Significant involvement in communicating with, but not limited to parents, children, and park district staff.
  • Some involvement in the prioritizing of job assignments.
  • Some involvement in keeping swim lesson equipment, supplies and pool area clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Ability to direct & maintain class structure.
  • Knowledge of Jeff Ellis Swim Lesson Program.
  • Attend Mandatory in-service training every Wednesday from 8 pm to 9 pm.
  • Ability to attain Instruction certificate through the Jeff Ellis Swim Program.
  • Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with the stated values of the park district.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

 

 

Concession Clerk

  • Significant involvement in serving food in accordance to the Illinois Health Department regulations.
  • Significant involvement in communicating with, but not limited to, staff, customers, and park district management.
  • Significant involvement in money handling.
  • Considerable involvement in maintaining cleanliness of the concession area.
  • Some involvement in record keeping.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Ability to work systematically, rapidly and cheerfully.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task.
  • Possess strong math and money handling skills.
  • Ability to operate concession and computer equipment.
  • Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the Park District.
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Available for additional hours depending on swim meets and special events.

 

 

Asst. Swim Coach

  • Significant involvement in communicating with, but not limited to parents, children, and park district staff.
  • Significant involvement in instruction of, and record keeping for swim team participants.
  • Some involvement in maintaining swim team equipment, supplies, and the cleanliness of the pool facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be 19 years or older or experience coaching/instructing.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Ability to direct, coach, and support swim team.
  • Knowledge of competitive swimming, aquatic programs, life guarding and pool operations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the park district.
  • Be available to attend meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

 

Pool Operations

  • Significant involvement in communicating with aquatic supervisor, pool & concessions managers and other park district staff.
  • Considerable involvement in maintaining pool facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Ability to work independently.
    Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of aquatic schedules.
  • Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the Park District.
  • Possess excellent decision-making skills.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • 5 days per week, 6:30 am to 10 am. Some weekends.
  • Will work at both Civic Center and Winrock Pool.

 

Lunch Program Facilitator

  • Immediate opening available for a part-time Lunch Program Facilitator.
  • Hours are 11:00am-12:45pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
  • Classes located at Civic Center and South Point.
  • Previous experience with children in a preschool or daycare setting preferred.
  • Experience working with children a must.
  • Duties include assisting children with their lunches by opening items, encouraging healthy eating, monitoring children’s progress, and general supervision of the lunchroom. Other duties include supervision during free play and/or large motor play.

Kid's Connection Site Supervisors, Leaders, and Subs

  • Part-time supervising the Park District's Kid's Connection before and after-school programming located in each District 308 elementary school.
  • Hours are 6:00-8:30am and/or 3:15-6:15pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Duties include help with planning and implementation of games, crafts, local outings, and activities as well as supervision of children.
  • Experience with children and parents a must.
  • Supervisors and Sub Supervisors must have 6 hours of Early Childhood Education credits.
  • Site Supervisors must be at least 21 years old.
  • Leaders must be high school graduates and at least 19 years of age.

Gymnastic Competitive Team Coach (Two Positions)

  • A former competitive gymnast wanted to coach in an award winning, growing program with state champion gymnasts.
  • Must enjoy working with children; be energetic, positive, a team player, and reliable.
  • Ability and experience coaching USAG level 1-10 preferred.
  • Will work with a former international competitor and elite gymnast.
  • Part-time, Evenings and some meet weekends.  12-20 hrs / week
  • All classes held at Boulder Point, Zero Boulder Hill Pass, Montgomery, IL.

Gymnastic Recreation Instructor

  • Must enjoy working with children, ages 6 months and up.
  • Must be energetic, positive, a team player, reliable, and work with a smile!
  • Former gymnasts preferred. Training will be provided for those without a gymnastic background.
  • Part-time, Evenings and some weekends. 10-25 hrs / week.
  • All classes held at Boulder Point, Zero Boulder Hill Pass, Montgomery, IL.

Hip Hop Hustle Certified Instructor

  • Part-time teaching Hip Hop Hustle fitness classes to 16+
  • Classes located at Boulder Point and/or South Point
  • Must be available to instruct Tuesday evenings and be available to sub Friday mornings
  • Current Hip Hop Hustle instructor certification a must
  • Preferred ACE certified instructor
