Spotlight on Limelight
The Limelight Theatre Company

Oswegoland Park District's Limelight Theatre began ten years ago with a small group of 10-12 year olds who expressed an interest in drama. Through the years the program has grown to involve over 100 participants from six years old through adults.

Limelight has produced a total of 53 plays in its 10 year history including its most recent production of It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play at the White School Museum. Read review.

With the motto “everyone plays a part” we believe that each person's talents and ideas are necessary to create a final product. With workshops for children as young as 6 years old, and regular offerings for students in junior high, high school and college, the theatre company has something for everyone.

Limelight provides an outlet for the outgoing and boisterous actors as well as those a bit more reserved with great ideas to share.  We bring together the people with the creative, artistic concepts and the people with the technical skills and know how to make it happen.  Everyone from the lead actor, to the person moving sets, to the person helping sell tickets plays an equal role in the success of a production.

Limelight is also unique in our dedication to original works written by staff members and participants. We believe that young actors will rise to the challenge of difficult material, so we provide them with opportunities to dig into complex characters and stories.

The Limelight Theatre Company has accomplished a lot in its first ten years and we are excited to continue to offer the community an engaging theatrical experience as participants and audience members for the next ten years and beyond.
