oswegoland park district...a look back at 2006 accomplishments

  • Achieved Distinguished Agency status placing the Oswegoland Park District in the top ten percent of agencies in the state in providing superior recreational services.
  • Worked with high school horticulture classes and community volunteers to collect and clean 190 lbs of seed, a $25,000 value if purchased, from native plants in the District to be planted in specific Park District sites.
  • Completed the renovation of SuzanJohn Park, Oswegoland Park District's oldest park located in Boulder Hill.
  • Received an OSLAD grant for the first phase of development at Prairie Point Community Park which will include baseball fields, skate park, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, soccer fields, walking/jogging path around the park, access road and parking.
  • Completed Washington Park between River Run and Hometown Oswego.
  • Completed the first phase of the Oswego Prairie Trail connecting Barnaby Park in the Heritage of Oswego subdivision to the Waubonsie Trail at Farmington Lakes.
  • Launched new special events, Pig Pen Afternoon, Puddle Jumpers, Breakfast With the Princesses, Day Off Series, Kid's Triathlon, Grand Morning, Fishing With Dad, and Mother Son Sport Night.
  • Received an OSLAD grant for the second phase of development at Prairie Point Community Park which will include a large picnic shelter, a splashpad, lights for two baseball fields, site amenities, walkways, landscaping, and seeding.
  • Completed Wormley Heritage Park.
  • Partnered with the Village of Oswego in negotiating transition impact fees on property newly annexed into the village to be used for park district equipment.
  • Purchased 4.5 acres of riverfront property along Route 25 in close proximity to Violet Patch Park preserving the riverfront for public enjoyment.
  • Connected east and west side neighbors with the opening of the Violet Patch pedestrian bridge over the Fox River.
  • Entered into an intergovernmental agreement with District 308 to exchange land at Churchill Club subdivision for preschool and Kindergarten Kid's Connection space in Southbury Elementary School.
  • Launched a "real time" online registration system giving residents immediate confirmation of program availability and registration while eliminating the need for a lottery.
  • Completed a Needs Assessment community survey as part of the Oswegoland Park District's Comprehensive Master Plan.
  • Finalized the purchase of Fox Valley Park District's half of Fox Bend Golf Course making Oswegoland Park District the sole owners of their home course.
