The Illinois Distinguished Agency Award is a joint program
sponsored by The Illinois Association of Park Districts and The
Illinois Parks & Recreation Association.
To become a Distinguished Agency, organizations must complete
a voluntary evaluation process used to identify those agencies
that meet an established set of standards in providing superior
park and recreation services to their residents.
The evaluation process consists of several sections including
general management, finance and management, facilities and parks,
personnel, recreation services, and legal. In order to become
a Distinguished Agency, there is a minimum score to be met in
each section.
- That your park district meets the internal and external standards
required to qualify in the top 10% of districts in the state
in providing superior recreational services.
- That all policies and procedures have been reviewed, updated,
and distributed resulting in increased and more effective customer
service.
- That all facilities and operations of the district have been
reviewed for safety and effectiveness making your parks and
facilities safe, clean, and efficient.
- That the Oswegoland Park District staff exhibits the commitment
and dedication necessary to work together as a team to complete
this two-year process resulting in better service to its residents.
The Distinguished Agency Award is valid for six years after which
the district will need to be re-evaluated. During that time, you
can be assured that the policies, procedures, systems and evaluations
created, reviewed, and implemented during this process will enhance
the quality of our programs, facilities and services to our residents
as we continue our mission of creating opportunities for a
healthy community.
