local businesses, the free
movies begin at dusk. Concessions available.
With a new school year just around the corner, kids entering Kindergarten and 1st Grade along with their friends of all ages will see how wonderful and warm their teachers are! Kindergarten and 1st Grade teachers from District 308 will read their favorite stories. Pack a picnic lunch and make for the monkey bars! All are welcome to come and enjoy the day, the park, and delightful stories from the experts on kid’s lit!

They’ve spent the summer having fun in the sun; now let your little ones flirt with the dirt! Come with their favorite sand and water toys and let your preschoolers explore, play, dig, roll, splash and jump, all without a single call to “stay out of the dirt!” Kids o go home with a commemorative T-shirt.

Kids can make big pigs of themselves! First they’ll pig-out on spaghetti and then enjoy dessert of sundaes, all without utensils. Then it’s games galore in the mud. Yep, it’s going to be messy, but fun they won’t forget. A T-shirt is included.

Getting dirty isn’t just for the kids. Can your neighborhood rise to the top of the slop? What about your coworkers? Grab six of your friends and sign up for the Pig Pen Classic. Teams will play a single elimination style tournament. Six players on each court, two must be female. Tailgating at Prairie Point Park is encouraged; pack your dinner! Rule packets will be mailed out to the captains one week before the tournament. Team Captains register today!

Your baby’s feet are growing faster than sea monkeys, and you have a closet full of outgrown athletic shoes and shin guards! If you have shoes or shin guards to swap, you’ll get a ticket for each pair that you bring in on Saturday. On Tuesday you can exchange each ticket for another pair that fits.
Do you have an athlete whose new interest is soccer and needs shoes? Anyone without items to swap may purchase shoes or shin guards for $3 on Tuesday.

Enjoy the beauty of the Fox River! We will float and paddle a scenic 5 mile stretch of the Fox River from Yorkville to Silver Springs State Park. Space is limited for this great event, so register early! Meet at Freeman’s Canoe Rental in Yorkville. The Park District will provide transportation back to your car at the end of the adventure! (return approx. 2-3 hr.)

Oswego’s future Iron Man just might be in this event! The course is a 100 meter swim, a 3 mile bike ride, and a 1/2 mile run. Kids enrolled in grades 3, 4, 5 or 6 will compete in their grade level. Awards will be given to the winners of each division. Remember, if you have fun - you won!

Cowboys and cowgirls, join this rodeo and you will have the chance to ride in a variety of events including pig herding, Simon says, calf roping and more! Bring your family and friends to watch you compete in these events that are all done on your very own stick horse (no live animals are used). Each child will receive a stick horse, cowboy hat, participation trophy and lunch. Concessions will be available on the grounds, provided by Fox Bend’s own Pearce’s Restaurant. Celebrate fall with a 10K run through the friendly neighborhoods of Boulder Hill and Oswego. Course begins and ends at the Civic Center. The USATF certified course travels along part of the beautiful Waubonsie Trail! Race will be timed by RACEtime. Volunteers provide two water stations on the course and split times at every mile. All runners receive a long-sleeved t-shirt, refreshments, and participation ribbon. November 6 is the last day to pre-register. Print race entry.

All Aboard! The Oswego Holiday Express is preparing to leave the Oswego Pace Park and Ride station for the North Pole! Put on your pajamas, don your warmest apparel, grab your tickets and get ready for Santa! We have the Polar Express story to be read on the way to wonderland. Real reindeer will greet you at the top of the world, where you’ll enjoy hot cocoa from the Village Grind and meet Santa! Each participant, from Grandma to the baby, must be registered. Trains run every 20 minutes. Tickets will be mailed with trip information in late November.
