All Oswegoland Park District Youth Programs emphasize
skill development, teamwork, and good sportsmanship through:
- Recreational leagues
- Avoiding team standings
- Equal playing time for all
- Every resident of the district should have an opportunity
to take part in activities offered, regardless of skill or ability.
- Under any circumstances, the individual participant is more
important than winning.
Therefore, we offer programs where individuals are encouraged
to achieve at their own level of interest or ability.
We offer the following seasonal sports programs for children
and/or teens:

understanding for younger students. As is typical in most Karate classes, students of all levels are taught in this class with the opportunity to earn colored belt ranks at the end of the session.
Tailored for students who wish to continue beyond the Beginner level and have earned the rank of yellow belt. The principles of other martial arts styles will be introduced. Karate students should wear loose fitting clothing
or a karate uniform. Participants may purchase
a uniform through the instructor. Tang Soo Do Karate students

Through a variety of fun and creative activities, children will develop coordination, strength and personal safety skills in a
supervised setting. Children will learn skills that develop
memory and agility to help them in school and other sports.
Karate builds coordination, agility, strength and poise, as well as personal safety skills, along with skills to release tension brought on by school and peers. The confidence gained through Karate helps foster a strong positive self-image, control and discipline.
Karate is ideal for releasing tension and developing
cardiovascular fitness. The self-defense skills taught are
invaluable if ever confronted with a dangerous situation. Karate movements develop poise and agility while improving overall muscle tone. Youth and adult classes will train together.
Shotokan Karate uniforms and testing information
are available through the instructor.
