This Saturday local brewers are taking their barrels and taps on the road to gather along the Fox River at Hudson Crossing Park. The riverfront park is the perfect hub to meander by brewer’s tents and nerd out over IPA’s. Brew at the Bridge is a free entry event (now that’s a deal) with 2 tasting package options.
Local Brews
This year we are stoked to have an all Illinois line-up of microbreweries. We wanted to pull in the local scene to give everyone a variety of tastes that don’t require a plane ride to get another pour. With the $20 tasting package, you can try up to five 2oz local brews. You also get to take home a classy souvenir tasting glass that’s designed to make your friends jealous. It doesn’t matter if you’re an IPA fanatic or think you look better in pictures with a beer in your hand, this fest is all beer and skittles.
VIP Package
If you’re a VIP kind of fella, bump up your package. For $35 you can enter at noon, access the 21+ Riverfront Lounge, and hit up the Salsa Verde salsa bar. The VIP access gets you three 2oz Home Brew Tastes – nano-batch beers created by enthusiasts. If you want some dangerously small-batch ales out of reach to the masses, check out the Home Brew line-up while supplies lasts.
Park Vibes
Although beer is the word of the day, you don’t have to be sampling to enjoy Brew at the Bridge. Locals shuttle their fold out chairs for the live music and fall breeze. It’s a perfect flannel and apple cider kind of day. Chi-Taco, Wurst Kitchen, and other mouthwatering eats will be joining us. So bring your friends, bring your grandma, bring your leashed dogs and kids (leashed or unleashed). Everyone is welcome, but if you want to get hops you have to be 21+.
Beards
With all this beer around, there’s usually some pretty prestigious whiskers. We didn’t want all those beards to go unnoticed. For five bucks you can enter the first ever Beard Contest sponsored by our local barbershop, Razorsharp Barbershop. It’s simple: Get a Polaroid snapped of your awesome beard, give us a name, and at 5:30pm well announce the winner. Prizes are given for “Best Styled,” “Longest Beard,” and “Best Overall Look.” Beards, don’t let your hard work go unappreciated.
Help Someone by Drinking Beer
Why not drink beer, eat food, jam tunes, grow beards, hang in the park, and help people all at the same time. The Park Foundation is having the People’s Choice Award for the local breweries. You vote for your favorite brewery by tossing a buck or twenty into their jar. The company that collects the most votes (bucks) receives a plaque for the People’s Choice Award. All those Washingtons used as ballads go to the Oswegoland Park Foundation, a 501c3 charitable organization, to preserve parks and green spaces in Oswego. Think of the bees and the trees!
Well, that’s about all we can tell you in advance about Brew at the Bridge – killer brewer line-up, best grub, beards, and helping save the trees without having to dig holes. What’s not to like? It’s a zero cool fest, but don’t take our word for it; go find out for yourself.
