Sprint triathlons are a great way to mix up training, set a goal for yourself, or simply enjoy a beautiful August morning. New triathletes will love a chance at this race designed especially for them. Swim 250 yards, bike six miles, run two miles, and cross the finish line! All events begin and end at the Civic Center. This race qualifies for the Oswego Triple Race Series. Age: 12+
Check in
6:15am-7:00am at the Civic Center. Athletes must arrive by 7:00 am to get bikes set up and race numbers handed out before the race begins. If you do not sign in by 7:00am, your spot will be released to someone else.
When you arrive, please come directly to the sign-in table where you will receive your race number, t-shirt, and safety pins. Your bib must visible in the front for the bike and run legs.
Start Sequence
Please note the triathlete start sequence. Regardless of your assignment, athletes must check in by 7:00am.
Pre-Race Meeting
There will be a mandatory pre-race meeting at 7:45am held poolside by the lap lanes to review race procedures. This race includes 8 miles of navigating open road. Athletes under 12 years old need an event registered adult to accompany them on the course.
Equipment
- Clothes and shoes suitable for the triathlon
- A bike and helmet (REQUIRED for the cycling portion of the race)
- Goggles recommended for swimming
All transitions take place at the Civic Center. Grouped numbers will be marked on the ground at each of these areas. Locker rooms are available to change in or to lock up your items.
Swim to Bike
Volunteers will direct you to the transition area to leave your bike. Keep your towel and any clothes you wish to change into after the swim at your bike transition area.
Bike to Run
You may keep running shoes at the run transition area. At the transition, there will be volunteers who will take your bike, helmet, and anything else you give them. They’re trying to help you, so don’t run them over! Your run transition items will be where you left them and water will be available. When your bike is taken from you, keep running straight on the same street.
250 yards (5 Laps)
At the race start, you will line up in order of the athlete start sequence. Athletes will enter the pool one at a time every 10-30 seconds and complete the required lengths in a “snake-like” pattern. You will swim down the lane on the right, and back on the left. After your return length, you will swim under the lane line and continue your swim leg. You may start in the water or dive in and use any stroke you like. Swimmers will be allowed to pass each other during the event.
Snake Pattern Swim Course

After completing the last lap lane you will exit the pool and proceed to the bike transition area where you can towel off and get into biking clothes if you wish. Helpers are not permitted to help you towel off or get your bike ready. This is an individual event. If you wish to change clothes, the locker rooms will be available, and you can leave bike clothes there rather than next to your bike.
6.5 miles
Your bib must be visible for the bike leg. The bike course is about 6.5 miles and winds through the Boulder Hill subdivision. Bike helmets are required. The roads will not be blocked off from traffic. Bikers must follow the course markers, use caution at all intersections, and obey all traffic laws. There will be course marshals at turns and water on the course.
2.1 miles
Your bib and race number must be visible for the running leg of the race. When your bike is taken from you, keep running straight up the same street. Race marshals will keep you on course. A water station is at the one mile mark.
