Become A Board Member

The Oswegoland Park District Board of Commissioners is seeking an Oswegoland Park District resident who is interested in the Park District community and would like to serve as Park Board Commissioner.

Each member of the Board of Commissioners must be a citizen of the United States, a registered voter in the Oswegoland Park District, a resident of the State of Illinois. Residency must be established for a minimum of one year. A person is not eligible if that person is in arrears in the payment of any tax or other indebtedness due to the Park District or has been convicted in any court in the United States of an infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or felony.

Park Board Commissioners set the policies that guide the Park District. Commissioners are expected to review the agenda and supporting materials before meetings and attend all Board meetings and functions; understand the Oswegoland Park District’s mission, services, policies and programs; abide by the policies of the Park District as well as all Federal and State statutes governing the operations of the Park District and carry out the fiduciary duties of the Board of Commissioners. Board members receive no compensation for their time.

Prospective candidates should submit a Letter of Interest, including responses to the following questions:

  • What motivated you to apply to fill this vacancy?
  • What do you believe is the role of the Park District in the Oswegoland community?

Letters of Interest will be accepted until January 8, 2024. Please submit Letters of Interest to Cindy Benson, Park Board of Commissioners Secretary, via email to cbenson@oswegolandpd.org. Select candidates will be interviewed by the current Board. The selected candidate will serve on the Board until May 2025.
